Berson House

Norman Park, BrisbaneArchitectural renovation
Berson House — garden elevation with deep eaves and planted balcony

Built around the way a family lives.

An existing Norman Park house makes room for climbing, swimming, cooking and gathering. A climbing wall and soccer pitch make play part of the plan.

Concrete and dark finishes shape the interior spaces. Timber, planting and daylight soften their edges, while the courtyard brings different parts of the home into conversation.

Designed by Monster Ideas with interiors by AM Interior Studio and landscape by Steven Clegg Design, the renovation was constructed by Aurelien Berson Construction.

Materials and detail

Life in the plan

Spaces for movement and play sit alongside the places where the family cooks, gathers and rests.

Opening inward

Concrete levels, glazing and planting frame the courtyard dining space.

A shared effort.
